About Us
Evolve Dental Mentoring was founded by Dr David Abdel-Malek, a practising cosmetic dentist who has seen firsthand the challenges young dentists face once they leave university.
Throughout his own career, David realised that the transition from university to private practice is where most dentists struggle — not because they lack intelligence or drive, but because the system doesn’t prepare them for the realities of modern dentistry. Universities focus on compliance, not confidence. Graduates leave fearful of making mistakes, hesitant to take on complex cases, and often unsure how to bridge the gap between textbook theory and real-world practice.
David experienced that same uncertainty early in his career. Despite his education, he quickly discovered that clinical skill and confidence are built in the clinic — through mentorship, reflection, and real cases — not in lecture halls or weekend crash courses.
After years of refining his craft and mentoring dentists across Victoria, David saw the same pattern repeating: talented clinicians attending expensive short courses, only to return to their practices feeling overwhelmed and unequipped to apply what they’d learned.
Evolve Dental Mentoring was created to change that.
